LAN/WAN Administrator

This position involves managing both local and wide area network environments to ensure smooth and reliable communication across the organization. The LAN/WAN Administrator oversees network configuration, maintenance, and optimization, collaborating with various teams to meet evolving connectivity needs. They provide hands‑on support and troubleshooting in real time, ensuring peak performance and minimal downtime.

The role also involves monitoring network health, applying updates, and diagnosing issues proactively to reduce disruption. The administrator works with vendors or internal teams to implement network upgrades and improvements, and maintains documentation of network architecture, procedures, and configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain LAN and WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and network links

  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and availability

  • Manage network configuration documentation and maintain accurate records

  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and deploy infrastructure upgrades or new services

  • Support and respond to connectivity issues with timely resolution

  • Ensure network security by implementing access controls, patching, and network traffic monitoring

  • Analyze and optimize network performance to support business operations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing LAN and WAN environments

  • Solid understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF) and hardware components

  • Familiarity with routing, switching, firewalls, and network troubleshooting tools

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are an advantage

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and collaboration abilities

Salary Range

Approximately $76,000 – $108,000 annually, varying with experience, location, and technical expertise.
