Desktop Infrastructure Technician

Summary

The Desktop Infrastructure Technician supports and maintains an organization’s end-user computing environment, ensuring workstations, peripherals, and related infrastructure operate smoothly. This role involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, implementing system upgrades, and maintaining security standards.

Working closely with IT teams, the technician provides hands-on assistance for desktop deployments, system configurations, and application installations. They also contribute to documentation, process improvements, and preventative maintenance to enhance system reliability and user productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware, operating systems, and software applications

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to workstations, printers, and peripheral devices

  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations

  • Assist in deploying new systems and migrating user data

  • Monitor system performance and address potential issues proactively

  • Maintain accurate records of assets, repairs, and configurations

  • Provide on-site and remote support to employees across the organization

  • Collaborate with network and server teams to address cross-platform issues

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Proven experience in desktop support or IT infrastructure roles

  • Strong understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems

  • Familiarity with Active Directory, group policies, and user account management

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

  • Ability to diagnose and repair hardware and software issues efficiently

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, etc.) preferred

Salary Range

Annual compensation $50,000 to $70,000, adjusted according to experience level and technical expertise.
