This role is responsible for overseeing the seamless operation of telecommunications systems, including voice, data, and video networks. You’ll ensure that infrastructure—from routers and switches to VoIP systems—is properly maintained and optimized for performance and security.
Collaborating closely with IT teams and external vendors, you’ll manage network capacity, handle system updates, and troubleshoot issues to maintain reliable communication channels across the organization.
Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain the organization’s telecom and network infrastructure (e.g., VoIP, WAN, routers, and switches)

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot outages, and coordinate timely repairs

Enforce security protocols and maintain compliance with company and industry standards

Collaborate with network and systems teams for integration and optimal configuration

Manage third-party vendor relationships and service contracts

Document network configurations, procedures, and maintenance logs

Train staff on telecom tools and assist with user-level technical issues
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecom, Computer Science, or related discipline (associate degree or certifications accepted with experience)

Experience with VoIP systems, network operations, and telecommunications equipment

Strong knowledge of routing, switching, LAN/WAN design, and network security measures

Familiarity with telecom protocols (e.g., SIP, QoS, PRI, SIP trunking)

Excellent analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills

Preferred certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or relevant vendor-specific credentials

Salary Range
The expected annual pay falls within approximately $58,000 to $91,000, with higher compensation—up to around $105,500—possible for candidates with advanced experience, and specialized skills.
