Remote Support Technician

The Remote Support Technician plays a vital role in keeping virtual systems and users connected and productive. You’ll deliver real-time technical assistance to remote employees, students, or clients, resolving issues with software, connectivity, and device functionality—without being on-site. This role requires strong communication skills, fast problem-solving, and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support via phone, chat, and remote access tools

  • Resolve issues related to software, connectivity, hardware configuration, and system performance

  • Assist with Microsoft 365, VPN access, remote desktop environments, and common web platforms

  • Guide users through step-by-step instructions for installations, configurations, and updates

  • Document all support activities and resolutions in a ticketing system

  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues to Tier 2 or infrastructure teams

  • Support onboarding of new remote users, including provisioning access and delivering IT orientation

  • Help maintain self-service knowledge base articles and support documentation


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in a remote IT support, help desk, or technical support role

  • Proficiency with remote support tools, Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and basic networking

  • Strong communication, patience, and customer service skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot across various environments, devices, and platforms

  • Experience with VPN, multi-factor authentication, and collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals are a plus

Salary Range

$50,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience, technical proficiency, and remote support capabilities.
