The Remote Support Technician plays a vital role in keeping virtual systems and users connected and productive. You’ll deliver real-time technical assistance to remote employees, students, or clients, resolving issues with software, connectivity, and device functionality—without being on-site. This role requires strong communication skills, fast problem-solving, and a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support via phone, chat, and remote access tools

Resolve issues related to software, connectivity, hardware configuration, and system performance

Assist with Microsoft 365, VPN access, remote desktop environments, and common web platforms

Guide users through step-by-step instructions for installations, configurations, and updates

Document all support activities and resolutions in a ticketing system

Escalate unresolved or complex issues to Tier 2 or infrastructure teams

Support onboarding of new remote users, including provisioning access and delivering IT orientation

Help maintain self-service knowledge base articles and support documentation
Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience

1–3 years of experience in a remote IT support, help desk, or technical support role

Proficiency with remote support tools, Microsoft 365, Windows OS, and basic networking

Strong communication, patience, and customer service skills

Ability to troubleshoot across various environments, devices, and platforms

Experience with VPN, multi-factor authentication, and collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, etc.)

Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals are a plus

Salary Range
$50,000 – $65,000 annually, depending on experience, technical proficiency, and remote support capabilities.
