Network Systems Administrator

A Network Systems Administrator plays a critical role in maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of an organization’s computer networks. This position ensures that systems run smoothly, remain secure, and are optimized for performance, supporting both day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and manage network infrastructure with minimal downtime. The Network Systems Administrator will work closely with IT staff and other departments to ensure seamless connectivity and reliable access to essential systems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware, software, and connectivity issues

  • Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices

  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems

  • Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery testing

  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights

  • Ensure network compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations

  • Perform software updates, patches, and security upgrades as needed

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for network-related services and equipment

  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience as a Network or Systems Administrator

  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)

  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security best practices

  • Proficiency in managing Windows and/or Linux server environments

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and organizational abilities

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or MCSA preferred

Salary Range

$62,000 – $89,000 per year, commensurate with experience, technical expertise, and certifications.
