Network Infrastructure Administrator

A Network Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the core systems that keep an organization’s network running smoothly. This role ensures that all network components, including hardware, software, and connectivity services, are optimized for performance, reliability, and security.

In this position, you will oversee complex network environments, troubleshoot advanced issues, and collaborate with other IT teams to support business operations. It’s a role that blends technical expertise with problem-solving skills, offering opportunities to work on critical infrastructure projects that impact the entire organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems

  • Monitor network performance and proactively address bottlenecks or outages

  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems

  • Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery planning

  • Oversee hardware and software upgrades to ensure systems remain current and secure

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture and configurations

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for complex network issues

  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure network reliability and service quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Strong understanding of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS

  • Proficiency with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet)

  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, or CompTIA Security+ (preferred)

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Salary Range

$75,000 – $105,000 annually, commensurate with skills, experience, and certifications.
