Mechanical CAD Technician

We are hiring a Mechanical CAD Technician for a direct-hire opportunity with our client in the industrial automation industry. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who is skilled in mechanical drafting and eager to support engineering teams in designing high-precision components and systems.

As a Mechanical CAD Technician, you will be responsible for producing detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings, models, and assembly layouts based on engineering requirements and project specifications. You will work closely with engineers and production teams to ensure all designs are manufacturable, accurate, and aligned with industry standards. This role is crucial to the success of product development and process optimization efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise 2D and 3D CAD drawings of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems

  • Support engineers in creating design documentation and ensuring consistency across all project files

  • Modify existing drawings based on engineering updates, customer feedback, or manufacturing needs

  • Maintain organized CAD file systems and support data management processes

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving and process improvement initiatives

  • Prepare layout plans and assist with the creation of bills of materials (BOMs)

  • Ensure all designs adhere to applicable mechanical standards and tolerances


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or certificate in Mechanical Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting, preferably within a manufacturing or automation environment

  • Proficient with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD Mechanical, or Inventor

  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and fabrication methods

  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Salary Range

$55,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience and technical proficiency.
