Mechanical CAD Drafter

As a Mechanical CAD Drafter, you will be responsible for creating and updating detailed technical drawings and 3D models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems used in industrial equipment. You will work closely with engineers and production teams to develop accurate documentation that supports manufacturing, assembly, and quality control processes.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with our client in the industrial equipment manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mechanical drafting, solid experience with CAD software, and a keen eye for precision and detail. Your work will play a vital role in transforming engineering concepts into real, functioning machinery.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies

• Translate engineering sketches and design requirements into detailed CAD documentation

• Apply standard drafting practices, including dimensioning, tolerancing (GD&T), and material specifications

• Maintain drawing accuracy and ensure compliance with company and industry standards

• Support engineers in developing prototypes, production drawings, and assembly instructions

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance

• Manage and organize drawing files, version control, and BOMs

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or technical certificate in Mechanical Drafting, CAD Technology, or a related field

• 2–4 years of experience in mechanical drafting using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar software

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes

• Experience with GD&T and familiarity with ANSI/ASME drafting standards

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering notes

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities

Salary Range

$55,000 – $72,000 annually, depending on experience, software proficiency, and industry background.
