Junior CAD Drafter

As a Junior CAD Drafter, you will support the drafting and detailing of structural steel components for construction projects. Working under the supervision of senior drafters and engineers, you\’ll assist in the creation of shop drawings, erection plans, and other fabrication documents using CAD software.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with our client in the structural steel fabrication industry. The ideal candidate is an early-career drafter who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to grow technical skills in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. You’ll be exposed to real-world drafting practices and gain valuable experience working on large-scale structural projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist in producing 2D CAD drawings and steel detailing for fabrication and erection

• Interpret basic architectural and structural drawings to develop shop and layout plans

• Make revisions to drawings based on redlines, markups, or engineering feedback

• Organize and maintain CAD files with proper documentation and version control

• Collaborate with senior drafters, project managers, and fabricators to ensure accuracy

• Follow company drafting standards and project-specific guidelines

• Learn and apply industry-specific codes and fabrication standards

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or drafting certificate in CAD Technology, Engineering Graphics, or a related field

• 1–2 years of drafting experience or internship preferred, but recent graduates are welcome

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with steel detailing software is a plus

• Basic understanding of structural drawings and fabrication practices

• Strong attention to detail and willingness to take direction

• Good communication and organizational skills

• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment

Salary Range

$44,000 – $56,000 annually, depending on experience, technical skills, and industry exposure.
