Field Desktop Support Technician

Field Desktop Support Technicians deliver hands-on technical assistance to end users, ensuring hardware, software, and network systems run smoothly. They respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues on-site, and work closely with IT teams to maintain optimal technology performance across the organization.

This role requires adaptability, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities, as it often involves interacting with staff across various departments. The technician must be able to diagnose and resolve issues quickly while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and operating systems

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly

  • Set up new workstations and perform equipment upgrades as needed

  • Manage and document support requests using a ticketing system

  • Assist with network connectivity issues and basic troubleshooting

  • Collaborate with IT staff to implement updates, patches, and security measures

  • Train end users on new systems, applications, and best practices

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience

  • Proven experience in desktop support or similar technical role

  • Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and common office productivity tools

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software

  • Familiarity with networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications preferred

Salary Range

$50,000 – $68,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
