Field Desktop Support Technicians deliver hands-on technical assistance to end users, ensuring hardware, software, and network systems run smoothly. They respond to service requests, troubleshoot issues on-site, and work closely with IT teams to maintain optimal technology performance across the organization.
This role requires adaptability, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities, as it often involves interacting with staff across various departments. The technician must be able to diagnose and resolve issues quickly while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities

Provide on-site technical support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and related peripherals

Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and operating systems

Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly

Set up new workstations and perform equipment upgrades as needed

Manage and document support requests using a ticketing system

Assist with network connectivity issues and basic troubleshooting

Collaborate with IT staff to implement updates, patches, and security measures

Train end users on new systems, applications, and best practices
Qualifications

Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience

Proven experience in desktop support or similar technical role

Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and common office productivity tools

Strong troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software

Familiarity with networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Salary Range
$50,000 – $68,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
