Desktop Support Technician

This role ensures smooth and efficient functioning of desktops, laptops, and related hardware and software across the organization. It involves diagnosing technical issues, resolving user inquiries, and maintaining system reliability to support daily operations.

Working closely with IT teams, the Desktop Support Technician assists with setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks to uphold a consistent and user-friendly computing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first‑line support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices

  • Respond to user help requests both in person and remotely, diagnosing and resolving technical issues promptly

  • Install, configure, and update operating systems, software applications, and necessary drivers

  • Maintain inventory of hardware, software licenses, and supplies, and assist with ordering replacements

  • Escalate unresolved issues to senior teams, documenting steps taken and outcomes

  • Assist with onboarding new employees by preparing and configuring their equipment

  • Ensure compliance with security protocols, including updates, patches, and antivirus measures

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in desktop or IT support, either in a professional or academic setting

  • Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS environments, as well as common productivity applications

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware and software domains

  • Solid communication and customer service skills for engaging with users at all tech levels

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under minimal supervision

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+) or coursework are advantageous

Salary Range

The salary for this role typically falls between approximately $50,400 and $76,300 per year, varying with experience and scope of responsibilities.
