A Desktop Support Engineer provides technical assistance to end-users, ensuring that computers, software, and related systems operate smoothly. This role involves diagnosing hardware and software issues, implementing effective solutions, and maintaining a reliable IT environment for day-to-day operations.
Working closely with internal teams, the engineer supports both in-office and remote employees, ensuring minimal downtime and high productivity. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to preventing IT issues before they escalate.
Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, and peripherals

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner

Provide remote and in-person technical support to staff across various locations

Set up new user accounts, email, and access permissions

Ensure security protocols and antivirus solutions are in place and updated

Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and recommend replacements or upgrades

Assist in deploying operating system updates and software patches

Collaborate with IT teams to implement technology improvements and solutions
Qualifications

Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field

2+ years of experience in desktop support or similar IT support role

Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems

Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting methods

Experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Annual compensation typically ranges from $50,000 to $70,000, depending on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
