Desktop Support Engineer

A Desktop Support Engineer provides technical assistance to end-users, ensuring that computers, software, and related systems operate smoothly. This role involves diagnosing hardware and software issues, implementing effective solutions, and maintaining a reliable IT environment for day-to-day operations.

Working closely with internal teams, the engineer supports both in-office and remote employees, ensuring minimal downtime and high productivity. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to preventing IT issues before they escalate.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, and peripherals

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner

  • Provide remote and in-person technical support to staff across various locations

  • Set up new user accounts, email, and access permissions

  • Ensure security protocols and antivirus solutions are in place and updated

  • Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and recommend replacements or upgrades

  • Assist in deploying operating system updates and software patches

  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement technology improvements and solutions

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in desktop support or similar IT support role

  • Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems

  • Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting methods

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 administration

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or similar certifications preferred

Salary Range

Annual compensation typically ranges from $50,000 to $70,000, depending on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
