Design Engineer (CAD)

As a Design Engineer (CAD), you will be responsible for creating and refining 3D models and engineering drawings to support the design, development, and manufacturing of consumer products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams—including product development, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing—to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and production requirements.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with our client in the consumer product manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate combines strong CAD proficiency with solid engineering fundamentals and a passion for turning ideas into tangible products. Your role will be critical in supporting innovation, improving existing designs, and ensuring a seamless transition from concept to production.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for components, assemblies, and tooling

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate design briefs into manufacturable parts

• Apply GD&T and engineering standards to ensure high-quality, functional designs

• Revise models and drawings based on test results, feedback, or engineering updates

• Conduct design feasibility reviews and support prototyping and testing

• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design intent is maintained

• Maintain documentation, version control, and part libraries in CAD and PLM systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field

• 2+ years of experience in a CAD-based design engineering role

• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor

• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturability (DFM)

• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design best practices

• Excellent communication skills and ability to work on cross-disciplinary teams

• Familiarity with consumer product development cycles is a plus

Salary Range

$65,000 – $88,000 annually, depending on experience, technical skill set, and industry background.
