Computer Support Technician

A Computer Support Technician provides technical assistance to users, ensuring that hardware, software, and network systems operate efficiently. This role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, setting up new systems, and offering guidance to help users navigate technology effectively.

Working closely with other IT professionals, a Computer Support Technician ensures that technology resources remain reliable and accessible. The role often requires balancing hands-on troubleshooting with clear communication to deliver solutions that meet both technical requirements and user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to technical support requests via phone, email, or in person

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and peripherals

  • Assist with software updates, patches, and system upgrades

  • Document support requests and solutions in the help desk system

  • Provide training and guidance to end users on system usage

  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and supplies

  • Collaborate with IT staff to improve system performance and reliability

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking

  • Experience with troubleshooting software and hardware issues

  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and IT documentation practices

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple support requests

  • CompTIA A+ or similar certification preferred

Salary Range

$45,000 – $62,000 per year, depending on skills, certifications, and experience level.
