Job Description for Ruby on Rails Engineer
About the Role
The Ruby on Rails Engineer is pivotal in developing, deploying, and optimizing web applications that drive our client’s businesses forward. This role involves leveraging the Ruby on Rails framework to create robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications. As a Ruby on Rails Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic, implement data storage solutions, and ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code.
- Integration of data storage solutions, including databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.
- Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
- Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Ruby on Rails Engineer or similar role.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec and Resque.
- Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances.
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming.
- Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful.
- A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code.
- Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system.
- Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
- Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
- Familiarity with continuous integration.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- X+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails development.
