Job Description for Cognos Report Developer
About the Role
The Cognos Report Developer is instrumental in leveraging IBM Cognos Business Intelligence tools to create, manage, and deploy advanced reporting solutions. This role involves translating complex data from various sources into actionable, user-friendly reports and dashboards for business decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data analysis, SQL, and report development, with an emphasis on optimizing performance and ensuring data accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Reports: Create complex reports and dashboards using Cognos Report Studio, ensuring they meet end-user requirements.
- Data Modeling: Utilize Framework Manager to model data in a way that is efficient and scalable, supporting the reporting needs of the business.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize reports and models for performance, ensuring fast load times and efficient data processing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide insights, and translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing support for existing reports, including troubleshooting, modifications, and enhancements.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Proven experience as a Cognos Report Developer or similar role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Cognos BI tools, SQL, and database technologies. Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
